2016 marks the 20th anniversary of SAP’s technical event, TechEd. For the end-of-day keynote, could we have asked for anything better than a grand entrance, in a DeLorean, of Mr. Bjoern Goerke, Executive Vice President and Corporate Officer, SAP Products and Technology? Adding to the show, Mr. Georke is surrounded by smoke and dressed all in white. He explained that SAP S/4 HANA is the new digital core and a must-have for companies wishing to survive in the future! Now is the time to perform a cleanup of our environments to facilitate the conversion to SAP S/4 HANA.

Some announcements were also made on the “Fuzzy Search” and “SAP Content to Go” allowing to transfer the tile via the “Add to Desk” option. Following the announcement of the partnership with Apple at the last SAPPHIRE, a new academy for developers will be launched to simplify SDK development. Also, a light version of SAP HANA – SAP HANA Express Edition – will become available to facilitate the development. All this will take place in the upcoming weeks.

Finally, nothing less than the Fiori Jam Band to end the evening. Mr. Bjoern Goerke was our lead singer. As for the last song, Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry reminded us of the Back to the Future movie. Bravo!

A couple notable sentences of the day:

  • “HANA is not only a database, it is a platform!”
  • “Need S/4 if you want to survive in the future!”
  • “Time to start the cleanup!”

Further details to come in the next days, stay tuned!
